The condition manifests itself as a result of the neuroplasticity of the brain - that is the self repairing powers and capacities of the brain. The symptoms entail specific individual affects of the global functional profile with the motor impairments as the principal diagnostic indicator.
From treatment to action
The applied and developed methods are designed to include the person with Cerebral Palsy and/or the family as partners and to give them co-ownership to the intervention strategy so to speak. This is necessary as the degree of intensity to obtain satisfactory results can not be based on - or met by - public health services.
METHODS
Documentation from tests and analyses are applied as instruments to demonstrate and evaluate the individual functional profile. From this stage on programmes and action plans are developed to manage further interventions.
The basic principle is an intensive and comprehensive strategy.
Definition
The intervention programmes are founded on the following definition of Cerebral Palsy:
Cerebral Palsy is derived from disturbances and errors in the early developmental processes of the brain occurring at a time when basic brain functions are not fully developed.
